MFRD Responds to House Fire at 705 Minor Street

Murfreesboro, TN—Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Engines 1 and 3 and Rescue 8 responded to a house fire at 705 Minor Street just before 4:00 Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival crews discovered smoke and flames coming from the back, left side of the house. A resident was believed to be inside. Crews searched the interior and located the fire in a bedroom. A victim was removed from the home and transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford with life-threatening injuries where the victim was pronounced deceased.

Crews were able to contain the fire damage to the bedroom and according to Acting Shift Commander Jamie Bigelow, “it did not take much water to put the fire out.” Bigelow also said there was smoke damage throughout the structure.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. However, the Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene and will be conducting a routine investigation. The two residents that live in the home will be displaced, but will be offered assistance from the American Red Cross.

According to Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas, “There appears to have been no working smoke detectors in the home.”

More information will be released as it becomes available.
