MFRD Responds to House Fire at 3306 Overhill Court

Murfreesboro, TN—Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Districts 4, 6, 7, and 8 responded to a house fire at 3306 Overhill Court just before 9:00 Monday night.

When crews arrived on scene, they discovered heavy fire coming from the back of the house. Crews immediately began an interior attack on the fire. However, the fire spread into the attic and quickly progressed through the rest of the home.

Crews on the interior were pulled for safety reasons, and crews on the outside had to begin an exterior attack.

The fire is out at this time. MFRD crews are still on scene extinguishing hotspots and conducting overhaul.

According to Shift Commander Daryl Alexander, “The design of the home made it difficult for firefighters to reach the fire. The house has extensive fire damage and the roof is completely gone.”

A total of six residents (two adults and four children) were all out upon MFRD’s arrival and no injuries were associated with this incident. The family pets made it out safely as well. According to Alexander, a Yorkshire Terrier was hiding in a back bedroom and was located and rescued by District 7 Captain Clay Walls.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

MFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene. According to Assistant Fire Marshal Tracy Summar, he will begin the preliminary investigation, but will have to return to the scene Tuesday morning to complete the investigation.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
