MFRD's District 2 responded to a two-car MVA on Saturday evening (Dodge Stratus vs. Ford F-150) The Stratus caught fire.
Typically, on car fires, the hood release cable burns, making it difficult for Firefighters to get the hood up. Rescue 2's crew used a K 12 saw to access the hood to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters delivered a baby girl |

Four Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department personnel received Letters of Commendation from Fire Chief Cumbey Gaines Thursday morning for successfully delivering a baby girl on February 24.
According to the letter, Acting Captain Vular Anderson, Driver Adam P. Brown, and Firefighters Ryan Battle and Justin Lewis responded to a medical call involving a woman in labor.

Part of a crew that was one of the first on the scene at the Haynes Drive and Sulphur Springs Road area where the Good Friday tornadoes of 2009 hit, Murfreesboro Firefighter Jeremy Spivey did what he always does.
"I tried to provide the best service possible to our community," said the three-year city employee whose been fighting fires for about five years.

The back wall of a post-Civil War Reconstruction era building on the Public Square collapsed Monday night as if it had been hit by artillery fire, witnesses said.
The sound of the falling bricks at an empty building at 123 N. Maple St. startled three MTSU graduate students, including Cheri LaFlamme.

Meth Lab possible cause of Inn Fire |

Police were investigating the possibility Tuesday that a fire at the Regal Inn on South Church was started by an apartment-based meth lab gone awry.
About 50 residents were forced from their homes Tuesday morning so firefighters could extinguish the flames, motel manager Dayna Martin said.

When Eric Fortney opened 3 Brothers Deli and Restaurant in November, he never thought this would happen.
On Saturday, Fortney stood and watched his dream go up in flames as three building a block off the Public Square burned.
“It’s a new business and I put my life and soul into this,” Fortney said.
The fire started shortly before 11 a.m.

Seven Firefighters Slightly Injured In home Blaze |

Seven Murfreesboro firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling an attic fire about 1:30 p.m. Saturday off Sulphur Springs Road, a fire commander said.
All seven firefighters were taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where one was admitted for observation, three were released and went home and three returned to work, said Commander Tim Swann.
